Credit unions are cooperative financial institutions that serve members through the philosophy of \u201cPeople Helping People.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What makes credit unions unique?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Equal Ownership \u2013 Credit unions are democratically controlled and member-owned and member-operated. Each member has equal ownership and one vote regardless of how much money he or she has in savings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not for Profit \u2013 Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide a safe, convenient place for members to save money and access loans and other financial services at reasonable rates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Purpose: People Helping People \u2013 Credit unions exist to serve their members, not to make a profit. Every member counts, including those of modest means. This \u201cpeople-first\u201d philosophy impels credit unions and their employees to get involved in their community and support worthwhile causes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteer Leadership \u2013 Each credit union is governed by a volunteer board of directors elected by and from the credit union\u2019s membership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"band content-fullwidth\"><div class=\"zone\"><div class=\"feature-wrap feature-wrap-custom-product-block blue-blue\"><div class=\"feature\"><div class=\"feature-padding\"><div class=\"feature-content\"><div class=\"feature-content-text\"><div class=\"feature-content-wysiwyg\"><h2>Keep the celebration going all month long!<\/h2><h3>October is Cooperative Month!
